Kindergarten Atzenbrugg

The municipal project for the new kindergarten in Atzenbrugg was successfully completed in 2022, with a particular focus on sustainable, healthy and regional construction methods.
Thanks to the high proportion of wood in the materials used, a saving of 581 tonnes of CO₂ was achieved, which makes a significant contribution to environmental protection.
Another key element of this project was the use of ISOLENA Premium, our high-quality sheep's wool insulation, for the exterior insulation of the building. This natural insulation material was deliberately chosen as it offers numerous advantages that conventional materials often cannot provide. The resilience of the insulation was particularly impressive during an unexpected flood event, which confronted the kindergarten with enormous volumes of water and caused serious damage to the interior of the building.
While the mineral fibre insulation installed in the interior had to be completely removed and replaced, the ISOLENA sheep's wool insulation demonstrated impressive durability in the exterior. Thanks to its natural properties, the sheep's wool dried out on its own after intensive contact with water without losing its outstanding properties. The insulation retained its thermal conductivity and helped to insulate the building effectively. In addition, there was no mould growth or unpleasant odours.
The advantages of the material go far beyond its pure resistance. By not having to replace the external insulation, considerable costs, time and material could be saved. This shows that sustainable materials not only bring ecological but also economic benefits. Investing in natural insulation materials such as sheep's wool pays off in the long term and offers security, even in extreme situations.
