Partition walls with sheep wool insulation
Effortless installation – a 1:1 replacement for mineral wool. And it's healthy and sustainable.
Partition walls are more than just room-dividing elements: properly insulated, they improve sound insulation, indoor climate, and comfort.

Combination of sheep's wool and wood natural combination. ISOLENA Optimal or ISOLENA Klemmfilz fits perfectly into timber frame constructions and is easy to install.
The insulation made from ISOLENA sheep's wool provides high sound insulation, a balanced room climate, and reliable fire protection for partitions.

Metal stud walls offer maximum design flexibility in interior fit-outs. ISOLENA Optimal sheep’s wool insulation, combined with metal stud frames and KNAUF plasterboards, forms a certified system with fire resistance up to EI 90 and sound insulation values of up to 67 dB Rw.
For natural wall constructions using metal studs, we recommend ISOLENA Optimal with clay building boards.
To ensure efficient installation, the WoolFix installation guide and the appropriate installation tool are available, along with an installation video (YouTube) for fitting into metal stud walls.

Fire protection for partition walls
Naturally safe – tested up to EI 90
Sheep’s wool has a self-ignition temperature of 560–600 °C – around twice that of wood (270 °C). In the event of a fire, the fibre melts away from the heat source without dripping or releasing burning particles (d0).
The products recommended for partition walls, ISOLENA Optimal and ISOLENA Klemmfilz, are classified as D-s2, d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1. They contain no chemical flame retardants, relying solely on the natural properties of wool.
In the tried and tested Knauf & ISOLENA Drywall System (PDF) with metal stud framing, sustainable partition walls with certified constructions and a Fire resistance up to EI 90 realised.
Naturally quiet
Soundproofing from fibre to joint
The varying fibre fineness of sheep’s wool ensures broadband sound absorption and is more effective across the entire frequency spectrum than homogeneous mineral fibres.
The DIN 4109-1:2018-0 (‚Sound insulation in building construction‘) requires a sound insulation value of at least 53 dB. In the Knauf & ISOLENA drylining system, partition walls achieve 54 to 67 dB Rw – which corresponds to the level of confidential meeting rooms.
A detail that makes all the difference: the joints between the floor, ceiling and adjacent structural elements create acoustic weak points. The ISOLENA sheep’s wool felt strip (9 mm, C-s2,d0) seals these joints completely and prevents sound bridges.
Sheep's wool is incorporated into the internal and partition walls here.
The Taborama residential building has it all in the truest sense of the word: it's the first high-rise building in Austria to use natural sheep's wool as ecological interior insulation. 29,000 m² of ISOLENA insulation provides insulation, good air quality and a favourable CO2 balance.
The Green Earth World impressively demonstrates how nature and sustainability come together harmoniously in architecture. By using natural building materials - such as ISOLENA sheep's wool insulation - a climate-neutral project was realised and an oasis of well-being created.
Where the old gardener's house once stood, a state-of-the-art lecture theatre centre is being built - with interior walls insulated with ISOLENA Optimal Plus sheep's wool insulation and constructed from a variety of sustainable, regional materials. A place where sustainability is not only taught, but also lived.
The Havelländer Ring daycare centre in Berlin was realised as a modern new timber building and equipped with natural sheep's wool insulation in ceilings, interior and exterior walls as well as in the acoustic ceiling. This ecological construction method creates a healthy environment in which the children can feel completely at ease.
As part of the refurbishment of an old residential building into a large communal house with nine residential units, natural materials were specifically used for an ecological construction method. Around 350 m² ISOLENA sheep's wool were used in the roof and interior walls to promote a healthy indoor climate.
With natural materials such as wood and 450 m² of sheep's wool in the partition walls, the Fahr kindergarten fulfils the highest ecological standards and creates a harmonious indoor climate. The pavilion building blends in perfectly with its surroundings, offering the children space to experience nature and a flexible learning environment.
The products Optimal Plus and Premium were used as acoustic absorbers in the ceiling and walls of the Weigl break room. "The result is impressive: these measures have created a pleasant room climate that makes a noticeable contribution to the feel-good atmosphere," reports Anton Sageder.
The information building of the District Chamber of Agriculture and the FIH Ried sends a clear signal in favour of regional value creation. Through the use of wood and 250 m³ sheep's wool .
A modern scout centre for the Lëtzebuerger Scouten in Ettelbruck, built in ecological timber construction. Roof, walls, floors and ceilings were insulated with ISOLENA sheep's wool insulation.
In Vienna’s trendy Nordbahnviertel district, the Green Cube – a seven-storey building comprising around 319 serviced studios – is currently under construction. A total of 7,080 square metres of Optimal sheep’s wool insulation is installed in the interior walls, delivering excellent thermal performance and helping to achieve the DGNB Gold pre-certification.
In the south of Vienna, the „Silo Next“ – the third phase of the „Silo Offices“ office complex – has been completed. Eco-friendly building materials, such as ISOLENA Optimal insulation in the internal walls, have contributed to the project achieving DGNB Gold pre-certification.
In the regional kindergarten project, ISOLENA Premium, Optimal & Optimal Plus were used both in the attic, in the transom walls and in the acoustic ceiling. To optimise the acoustics, Silentum panels were installed in the group rooms.
